LIGHTING THE VIKING-INSPIRED MARKET DOME
Nordborg Resort on the island of Als brings together holiday accommodation and a range of leisure facilities. At its centre, the Market Dome offers generous interior spaces with a design inspired by Viking heritage.
The lighting played an important role in establishing the character of the space. LIK Lighting therefore developed bespoke decorative and ambient luminaires to complement the overall design and meet the lighting requirements of the different areas.
DEVELOPING LIGHTING BEYOND STANDARD SOLUTIONS
The lighting needed to follow the project sketches while accommodating the scale and different functions of the Market Dome. Standard luminaires alone could not meet these requirements.
LIK joined during the early construction stages, taking responsibility for developing and producing the bespoke luminaires. Working alongside the project team, the initial sketches were translated into individual solutions, with samples produced for evaluation and approval before manufacture.

The lighting scheme includes pendants, in-ground luminaires, curved track systems, wall lights and table lamps, each element designed for its particular location and role within the Market Dome.
Colour temperatures of 2700 K and 3000 K were used, alongside CRI 90 for colour rendering. Pendants provide general illumination, dimmed during opening hours, while other decorative luminaires contribute to the intended atmosphere.
LIK’s involvement continued through the mounting of the luminaires and final adjustments on site, allowing the lighting to be assessed and adjusted in the finished environment.
