The History of Light

Since the beginning of man, the sun has been our primary source of light. As we discovered and developed new technologies, we slowly became less dependent on the sun. It began with the discovery of fire, which allowed us to stay awake longer and use more of the day. Later, we invented oil lamps and candles, making the light more convenient.

Things took a big turn with the invention of the incandescent light bulb at the beginning of the 19th century. It helped the foundation for our society today, as it contributed to implementing electricity in many households and factories. Electricity has become essential for our daily lives today. Fast forward 70 years, LED technology emerged, and today, it is still the most widely used lighting source.

For most of human history, the sun has controlled our daily routines. But these days, as we spend nearly 90% of our time indoors and work under artificial lighting, it increases the chance of winter depression and stress. The technology is developing r apidly, and, at LIK, we will continue to contribute with solutions that enhance everyone's well-being.
