MAINTAINING A DISTINCT BRAND IDENTITY THROUGH LIGHTING
Shaping New Tomorrow set out to create a premium menswear retail concept with a distinct architectural identity across its stores.
LIK Lighting was involved from the outset, developing the lighting alongside the retail concept as it expanded across Denmark and Germany. The design needed to maintain a consistent brand identity while adapting to the requirements of each location.
CONSISTENCY WITH ROOM TO ADAPT
The established architectural concept defined the lighting brief. However, the individual store layouts and installation conditions required adjustments to the specification and positioning of luminaires.
LIK provided lighting design, specification, product selection, supply and coordination, staying involved through installation and final on-site adjustment.
-
Maintain a clear and consistent architectural identity across the stores
Adapt the lighting to changing layouts and design requirements
Ensure accurate colour rendering of clothing and materials
Integrate the lighting with the architectural and interior design concept
Develop bespoke lighting where standard solutions could not meet the design requirements
-
In practice, LIK adapted the lighting specification and luminaire positioning to each space. Colour rendering was an important consideration for presenting clothing and materials, while DALI provided lighting control within the stores.
A central element of the project was the Blow It lamp, a bespoke mouth-blown glass luminaire developed by LIK to meet requirements that standard products could not fulfil. Mock-ups were produced at LIK and reviewed with the client and project team before implementation.
LIK’s on-site involvement included installing specialist lighting, DALI programming, luminaire aiming and final adjustments before each store opened.
